RealHeights

RealHeights

Give every player a real-world height. RealHeights converts a height in centimetres, metres, feet, or inches into Minecraft's player scale attribute, so a 170 cm player really is a little shorter than a 190 cm one.

RealHeights comes in two forms:

  • Plugin (named RealHeight in-game) for Bukkit-based servers, with Folia support
  • Mod for Fabric and NeoForge (see Mod Version)

Requires (plugin): BukkitOfUtils (works on Folia)

Support: Streamline Hub Discord

How It Works

  • A player's default height is 180 cm (1.8 blocks), which is a scale of 1.0.
  • Heights are clamped between 1 ft (30.48 cm) and 9 ft (274.32 cm).
  • A player's height is saved only when it is set or reset with a command.
  • When a player joins, their saved height is loaded and applied. It is re-applied regularly while they are online.
  • When a player leaves, or the plugin is disabled, their scale goes back to the default. The saved height stays stored and is applied again on their next join.

Storage

By default (use-api: true), heights are stored on Drak's web API (api.drak.gg), keyed by player UUID. No database setup is needed.

Set use-api: false to store heights in your own SQLite or MySQL database instead (see database-config.yml).

Installation

  1. Install BukkitOfUtils.
  2. Place the RealHeight jar in your plugins folder.
  3. Restart your server.

Commands

Notation: <required> = mandatory, (optional) = optional.

Aliases: /heights, /realheight. All actions are player-only (they cannot be run from the console).

CommandDescription
/height set <height> (player)Set your own height, or another player's.
/height set ?Show the accepted height units.
/height get (player)Show your own height, or another player's, in cm and ft along with the scale.
/height reset (player)Reset your own height, or another player's, to the default (180 cm).

Height Units

Add a unit suffix to the number. A number with no suffix is read as feet.

SuffixUnitExample
ccentimetres170c
mmetres1.7m
ffeet5.6f
iinches67.2i
(none)feet5.6

TIP

Feet are decimal feet, not feet-and-inches: 5.6f is 5.6 feet (67.2 inches), not 5'6". For 5'6", use 66i or 5.5f.

Permissions

PermissionDescription
realheight.command.heightUse /height

WARNING

The set, get, and reset actions each run an extra permission check, both for yourself and for other players. These checks do not currently resolve to a usable permission node, so only server operators can run set, get, and reset.

Configuration

Files are in plugins/RealHeight/.

config.yml

yaml
# Whether to use the DrakAPI for this plugin
use-api: true

database-config.yml

This file is only generated when use-api is false.

yaml
database:
type: SQLITE # SQLITE or MYSQL
  host: localhost
  port: 3306
  username: root
  password: password
  database: heights
  table-prefix: heights_
  sqlite-file-name: heights.db

Mod Version

RealHeights is also available as a mod (mod id realheights) built with Architectury for Fabric and NeoForge. It uses the same height maths, units, and storage options as the plugin.

Requirements

FabricNeoForge
Minecraft1.21.101.21.10 or newer
LoaderFabric Loader 0.18.1+ and Fabric APINeoForge 21+
Architectury API18.0.8+18.0.8+
Java21+21+

Commands

The mod registers /heights (not /height) with the same set, get, and reset actions:

CommandDescription
/heights set <height> (player)Set your own height, or another player's.
/heights get (player)Show your own height, or another player's.
/heights reset (player)Reset your own height, or another player's, to the default.

WARNING

The mod has no permission checks. Any player can set, get, or reset any player's height.

Configuration

The mod creates both config.yml (use-api) and database-config.yml with the same keys and defaults as the plugin, in a RealHeights folder under mods/.

Unlike the plugin, the mod also saves a player's height when they leave.
